Tourism Geographies 
(Routledge/Taylor & Francis)
is seeking applications for the position of 
Co-Editor in Chief 
to share duties with the current Co-EIC, Joseph M. Cheer


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience editing academic papers in tourism and geography in either journal, such as special issues, or book format
  2. Active in either the IGU Tourism Commission and/or AAG Recreation, Tourism and Sport Specialty Group meetings and activities
  3. Innovative and forward looking ideas on the journal's vision and future development  
  4. Able to work congenially and efficiently with the current Co-EIC, the journal's three Editors, and the Editorial Board
  5. Website development and editing skills
  6. Social media active and savvy across key platforms
  7. Have previously published in Tourism Geographies
  8. Sufficient time to devote to the journal on a weekly basis (from 4 to 8+ hours per week)
  9. Strong writing skills in English
  10. Well developed international networks relevant to advocating for and promoting the journal
 
Primary Duties (shared between the two Co-EICs):
  1. Solicit high quality manuscripts from potential authors
  2. Processing papers upon their initial submission to the journal (approx. 500+ annually) to ensure they meet journal standards for format and quality
  3. Assigning paper to an appropriate Editor or Co-EIC to oversee the review process
  4. Overseeing the review process of papers assigned to the Co-EIC, including selecting reviewers and making final decisions on papers
  5. Processing accepted papers to ensure they meet all journal standards prior to submission to production
  6. Overseeing and updating the Tourism Geographies website
  7. Working with the publisher to ensure policies and journal descriptions are accurate on their website and in the online submission system
  8. Supporting social media activities that promote the journal and its contents
  9. Working with special issue guest editors to ensure quality submissions and reviews for special issues
  10. Representing and promoting the journal at academic conferences and other forums
